Karen van Vuuren is a former broadcast news journalist with experience working in the field of end-of-life. She is also the founder and executive director of Natural Transitions, a non-profit organization providing education about conscious, holistic approaches to end of life, including after-death care and green, home funerals. For ten years, Karen was the editor of Natural Transitions Magazine and now co-hosts a monthly online forum called The Parlour. Her latest film work is a documentary called Go in Peace! (What happens when veterans with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder face their own mortality through serious illness. Go in Peace! is a film about understanding veterans’ needs and creating possibilities for healing – even at end of life.
Francesca Nicosia is a graduate student in Medical Anthropology. She studies the relationship between health, culture and the environment. She also has experience working as an end-of-life caregiver.
